Tana Jackson - Biography

The mixed media works are formed using putty and acrylic on canvas. The use of flowers, some of which are dead or wilted, as the subject matter provides the shapes, contours and lines that throw their own shadows on the work depending on the source of light. The deep colours are rich and vibrant and lend themselves well to the final sculpted work while the tactile surface is both pleasing and interesting to the sense of touch.Informed by the ancient tradition of relief sculpture, or bas-relief where the design projects only slightly from the base, the compositions combine many features of the two-dimensional pictorial arts and three-dimensional sculptural arts to represent the relations between the forms in depth and the flat space of the canvas from which they project.

Tana has produced hand finished plaster casts of some of the original sculptures. The images can be arranged individually or as a set and are available in a variety of colours. Each image has a limited edition run of 50 casts. Plaster casts can be delicate and require careful handling. Please see the website for examples. Tana is now able to produce images painted using glass paint for a stained glass window effect - see www.tanajackson.co.uk for examples.

If you would like the pieces in a different colour or size than shown please contact us. Commissions can be arranged through Angelico Creative Ltd.
